DJ Odyssey is one of the key DJs who helped carry blend culture into the modern era after the cassette days faded out. He didn’t come from the 90s Ron G / S&S / Doo Wop lineage — instead, he emerged during the mid‑2000s digital blend resurgence, when tapes were circulating through forums and MP3 trading instead of hand‑dubbed cassettes. His early work was raw, creative, and very much in the spirit of the classic blend DJs, while his later “Timeless Blend” series introduced a more polished, theme‑driven style that connected with newer listeners. Odyssey stands out because he still treats blends like a full mixtape art form rather than quick mashups, and he’s one of the few modern DJs who kept that tradition alive. Collectors and blend heads respect him because he bridges the gap between the old‑school blend mentality and the newer digital era, and for years his tapes were sold locally throughout the Newburgh/Poughkeepsie area before they ever reached the wider blend community.
