Hot 97 - Hip Hop & R&B Vol. 1 (1999)

-Ra

I know this is not a usual mixtape posting, just wanted to share something different. This was once a nice gem in the NYC area with what was most popular songs in the radio. Just wanted to share Vol. 1 in the series. I believe it went well over 100 parts. Disclaimer** My original CD was too scratched up to convert so I was able to replicate each track. Sorry I haven't posted as often lately. Life be Life-ing sometimes! Enjoy!

Killah Priest - Heavy Mental 2

Continuing with some more Wu uploads, this is all the stuff that didn't make Heavy Mental and a few demos.  If you had the one from C7 blog, this one has all that and full versions of a few that he only had snippets of at the time. I also threw The Professional at the end since that isnt on my vinyl of Heavy Mental. No official cover, just something I threw together.

Clinton Sparks - Get Familiar Vol. 1-9 & Get Familiar Blends Vol. 1-8 (Series)

In the early 2000's Boston's Clinton Sparks began making a name for himself. He started hosting a Hip Hop mix show from Mom's basement called "Live at The Compound". This led him to landing a gig on Boston's Hot 97.7. Eventually he would expand his radio personality to other markets. He began releasing his own mixtapes & started doing his own production work. In '04 he would co-found the online mixtape retailer Mixunit.com & in '05 released his own album Maybe You Been Brainwashed. From then to now Sparks has maintained a constant footprint in the entertainment biz.

Bang 'Em Smurf & Domination - Groundwork Series: 1-9 (2003-2008)

Bang 'Em Smurf & Domination - Groundwork Series (2003-2008)

Ok, where do I start? Bang 'Em Smurf & Domination. 50's former partner/security & Domination the cousin of Freaky Tah. It started out good before business & politics got in the way. Bang 'Em Smurf first appeared alongside Lloyd Banks on a freestyle from the 2003 DJ Roughandz 134 All-Starz mixtape. Groundwork 1 was released when Bang 'Em & Domination were still down with the unit. After that all following releases were filled with tracks taking aim at all things G-Unit. In 2026 looking back some of these shots were based in facts that were not common knowledge at that time. Both were/are talented but sadly never got the chance to get past most of their material being disses. It also didn't help that both would end up getting locked up & Bang 'Em Smurf being deported to Trinidad. Domination got charged with Manslaughter in 2011 & was later convicted. In 2025 he was finally eligible for parole but as far as I know has not been released. (If anyone has more info. Please share it in the CBox. Free Domo!) These releases had a host of different DJ's which included Big Mike, DJ Xclusive, DJ Sickamore, P-Cutta & Kochece. As a bonus I've included 3 other mixtapes they released which are: Exposing The False Prophet (DJ Infinite), Best Of Domination (DJ Elbow), Bang 'Em Smurf - Blacklisted - Kill On Site. This was requested in the CBox on Michael's site)
