Special request for Jimmy The Gent. Great mix of Ghostface tracks hosted by Kay Slay. Ghostface is arguably one of the most consistent MC's ever. His entire catalog is high quality.

I promise you won't find this tape anywhere else. It's a little local history for me. This tape brings me back to some of the best years of my life. As I get through this box of tapes I will post some more of my local tapes. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.
-MJ-
I don't know much about DJ Bee other than he's from Philly. This is packed with Wu classics. If anyone else has any other volumes from this series I would love to add them.

Merry Christmas from me to those of you who celebrate. If you guys behave yourselves I might drop another one on you later.
-MJ-
Merry Christmas Eve to all of you. I ripped this earlier this afternoon. Give it a listen and tell me what you think. That Young Zee track is crazy. He should've achieved more mainstream success than he did.

This is my rip of Hydro 98 from DJ Whoo Kid. That Cormega One Love track is my joint. Weird to see Whoo Kid with blends on his tapes. I forgot all about it.
-MJ-
I just ripped this last night. The audio quality is better than the existing rip after a quick comparison between the two. I can rip more if you guys are interested. Let me know.

I apologize for slowing up a bit with the posts. Life has been hectic while gearing up for the holidays. DJ Camilo is another one of my favorite DJ's and Tape 12 is packed with 1995 Hip Hop gold. Tracks like I Love You Remix, Death Be The Penalty & Danger are a few of the many classics that fill this tracklist.
-MJ-
Here is my own rip of Cutmaster C's It's So Hot Baby. I think it's clearer than what's been floating around. In the upcoming weeks I will be going through my box of tapes and ripping them. The goal is to try and provide better quality rips for existing tapes and I may post some things that have never been ripped in the past. Stay tuned.
-MJ-
This one features an early unmixed version of Biggie's My Downfall. I don't think the cover has been widely shared so I took a picture of my tape in case anyone needed the cover. Over the next few days I will try to provide a better rip of this tape for you guys.
-MJ-
Cutmaster C is primarily known for his hip hop tapes. This R&B joint is from 2000 and is loaded with great tracks.

Some early Clue tapes! Plenty of Blends. In the beginning Scarecrow & Big Splash were frequent contributors on many of his tapes.

This shit right here is one of the craziest mixtapes ever. You had 5 top notch DJ's join forces to create this masterpiece. You get everything on here. Hip Hop, Freestyles & R&B mixed masterfully by some of the best in the game.
-MJ-
One of the more common tapes you'll see me post but this one holds a special place in my heart. I bought mixtapes prior to this but this was the one the got me hooked. I can't even estimate the amount of times I have listened to this tape. Pure Golden Age New York hip hop at it's finest.

Another great mixtape DJ out of Queens. DJ Absolut started as an intern for Stress magazine. He now puts in work as a producer. Someone out there asked for more R&B. Here is one for you.

Gone Too Soon!!!
Black Rob should've had a larger career than he had. He suffered through addiction, health issues and homelessness. Unfortunately the hip hop community lost Black Rob on April 17 2021.

Okay, so here's another great one by Mister Cee.
Not many DJ's have the longevity that Calvin LeBrun did. He also had the respect of other DJ's from Flex, Kay Slay, Clue, you name it, for the work (pause) he continued to put in throughout his long highly regarded career. As far as a DJ goes he's been the DJ for an artist, the radio, shows, clubs & tons of mixtapes. He set the bar.
R.I.P. Mister Cee
(I removed the background noise from this.)

The Brooklyn Finisher Mister Cee provided some the best tapes of era. His legacy is highlighted by The Best Of Biggie tape but he provided us with so much more. He was Big Daddy Kane's deejay after they met early in their careers. The man was a legend. R.I.P. Mister Cee ....and you don't stop.
